Exhaust Setup

I have a 99GT,and I have a cat back exhaust system coming in the mail within the next week, its from Ford Racing, its 2.5" to 4" tips. I was wondering what headers and midpipe i should go with.

Long tube headers, Mac is cheapest. Also, an offroad Mac ProChamber is a great off road midpipe.

Go with a set of BBK longtubes...and a off road mid pipe...If you want really good headers go with Kooks...But after you put a set of headers on you learn that you dont want to do it again so dont go cheap...

Installing long tubes is just a 2 person job. But don't go cheap, because we spent about 4 hours total from start to finish where we re-fabricated a midpipe to work. A bolt on kit works easier than my welded one, but it takes at least 2 people (one with small hands) to do it without pulling the engine.

Yeah it may be a 2 person job but I know for a fact that on these GT's they are a pain in the arse...Dropping the k member is the easiest way to go about it...It might be different on the 6 though...I dont really know...But I know on the GT it is a most of the day job...

On the 6, they just slide up into place from underneath, but clearance is very tight on the passenger side.

As I have heard from many of the Pros that install the LT headers. Only get the highter priced LT's. you get what you pay for and Ive heard nothing but awesome reviews from Kooks, Stainless works, JBA, SLP and Bassani.

I have heard to NOT go with Mac or BBK as the welds are horrible and need to be grinded down.

Good Luck!

The kooks are $1140 and they are well worth it...Never heard anything bad about them...Sorta like you get what you pay for sometimes...
