Single vs. Twin Turbo

i'm 99% sure i want to go the turbo route, but since i am currently short on money, all i am doing is gathering information right now.. it will be a few months before i do anything drastic..

anyways, give me some advantages and disadvantages of single vs. twin turbo.. i obviously realize that twin costs much more money, so aside from that, let me hear some pros and cons

Twins make the power quicker using 4cylinders per turbo to spool, but doesnt give it that top end that it deserves, less lag, boost at lower RPMs, good for a daily driven street terror

single, needs all 8 cylinders to build boost on one of them big ass bad boys, good for drag racing and extreme high power and sometimes good DD depending on how far you actually take it, but excellent for a weekend warrior, starts to spool in higher RPMs, great for drag racing

single, less complicated to build

twins, a bit more complicated then you think, you actually now are forced to make room somewhere

why doesn't twin turbo have good top end?

because the spool maxes out around 4k rpms depending on the size of the turbos your using

just like he said twins are more money but you can run lower boost out of each turbo so you get more turbo life. because you dont have to push the turbos as hard. ex. 1 t76 at 20psi or 2 t57s at 10psi a peice and still makeing 20 psi total. plus twins looks impresive under the hood. and with the spool maxing out a little early i have to get to 5000 to 5500 before full boost if not a little longer and i shift at 6000.

a good single is better IMO... but its a toss up, but then again thats why mother nature gave us n20

twins boost faster..but loose top end

then if you think by getting bigger turbos it'll solve that you just wasted the point of a quicker spool cuz now its harder for those 4cylinders to make boost

IMO single is better. the hit is stronger and it can still make BIG POWER

i know you dont wana here this and yes its a v6 but just an example

stroked v6 built on a single turbo was runnign 15psi and made 503rwhp

same built stroked engine with twins made 520rwhp @15psi

and the single was just a lil t3 flange but had a nice gt40r turbo

but non the less the twins also had very nice turbos as well

either way single can make the power you want for sure...for cheaper

holy hell.. only 17rwhp difference? what sizes were the turbochargers? i think that post just made me make up my mind...

Well this is a bit different Jon Huber an 8 second 2.3

he makes 1000Hp on the 2.3 with a single PT76 turbo

when a single gets up a full spool, it hits HARD

what kinda setup would minimize the lag? and im having trouble planning what im gonna do turbo what woud your opinion be a single or twin turbo or a twin screw supercharger? i want a monster on the street that wouldnt kill me to drive it every day

so if you are lookin for a street driver with a quick spool for street racing you would want a twin setup
but if the track like a drag you would want a single for the bit hit of power it has over the twin turbo set up?
