It was probably the upper right torque box that gave out! Do yourself a big favor and eleminate the upper torque boxes (and upper control arms)completely by installing a MM torque arm. The repair on your broken torque box is going to be expensive otherwise. torque arm is only about $450 and you will need a panhard bar for about $350. Then you will have a decent rear end! Also weld up your lower torque boxes and install a set of battle boxes! You will then be bullet proof! I did mine on my 87 GT vert and just love the solid rear tracking. The stock four link is pretty much junk and originally came from the earlier fairmont ford if I remember right. To do what I just mentioned you will also need a set of decent sub frame connectors (to weld the torque arm cross member to). The neat thing about the torque arm is that you can set your pinion angle at ZERO instead of the stock sloppy 3-4 degrees (install a decent set of lower control arms also).

google maximum motorsports to find their webpage. They have all the good stuff! To see how their stuff is installed download their online install instructions! They have really good pictures! You can also call them and talk to their experts which are real helpfull! Fox body rear setup (torque boxes) are terribly weak and need to be corrected if you are going to keep your car! The stock four link system acts like a prybar on your torque boxes and given enough power and time will surely destroy them.
