cats or no cats

iv got a 1995 v6 with a shitty dual exhaust on it now. im looking for new exhaust. i was wondering does i really matter if i have cats. i dont have to pass emisions and know some people that would inspect it for me and over look the fact that i have none.

you will lose some low end TQ but you will gain it back in the higher rpms.
other than that the no cat law is federal not state so don't get caught and you will be fine.

yeah just because a county in your state or state itself doesnt have emissions doesnt mean its legal to have no cats. i would just play it safe and get the cats. in todays standards theres not much of a different in perf. with a off road mid pipe or ones with cats.

no not performance but a difference in sound. Worst case if you get pulled over you will just have to weld some cats in, not a big deal

96? I thought the law said anything 25 years or older, not any particular year.

take out the cats it will sound louder and get more hp. if someone will pass you, and you can always find someone, cops on the street will very rarely get down on the ground and look under your car to see if there are cats in there. they usually leave that up to the inspection guys.

I just ordered a O/R Bassani X-pipe for my 01 GT, an automatic. Is it gonna give me the "check engine, service engine" indicator once i get the X-pipe installed? The shop is gonna take off my cats completely.
