Flowmaster American Thunder Catback

I was looking through the summit catalog and came across the american thunder catback and was wondering how it would sound without a mid pipe and without headers on my 01 cobra. Down the road I will eventually put long tubes and o/r H but for now money is tight with insurance and car payment. any sound clips or opinions on any other cat back that would sound good would be great.

Also how much you wanna spend? For the biggest increase in performance and sound get a mid pipe first. If you don't have to worry about emissions testing get an off road h or off road x or off road prochamber. The O/R mid pipes will give you alot more power than just a cat back and they will increase sound quit a bit.

I'm not sure if I will have to worry about emissions I think a friend of mine can get it passed for me because he used to work at jiffy lube and knows some of the people who work there. I want an o/r H but in my town cops can be a real pain so no telling if one would stop and search under it but how often does that really happen? I think the best sound is long tubes o/r H and flowmasters. I just have to buy in moderation so if i bought that kit and down the road bought an o/r H i could add it? same with the long tubes.

Yea the mustang exhaust setups are ball and socket, they just bolt right in. I realy think you should look into mac, they have the chambered sound like flows only much much better. Here are some clips of the mac. These are with off road x pipes. A mac cat back will set u back about $313. These are mach 1's but they have the same excat motor so yours would sound the same. Mine are dumped and sound amazing I will get a clip 2day and post it up later.

That does sound badass. When I added the o/r H down the road would it just sound deeper instead of the raspy sound? and it's 313 for the catback system or the dumps you got?

that is the right one for your car.
this is the kit he has: MAC PD2960 MAC PRO-DUMPS™ 2.5 inch System 1996-04 GT / 1996-98 Cobra (IN STOCK) - PD2960 MAC

the pro dumps will work on your car as well if you want it. you can get it cheaper than that too, that was just the first place i thought of to post example. the video should be loaded soon.

Here is the video of mine. I made an entire video so you will have to watch it all to hear in car and outside both.

Your car sounds awesome. I'm guessing by keeping with the stock y or x pipe can't remember what the cobra came with. it will just be a little quieter and not as deep or what?

Yea quite a bit quiter. And the fact that I have dumps makes it deeper and louder. But go with the mac cat back you will love it. Then when you can get the mid pipe. x or h is up to you. Hell i would say save a little longer and get the mac prochamber.
