Whats a good exhaust system for a 3.8L v6? Manifolds, cats, pipes everything. I kinda like the low gurgle, but i want the most rwhp and tq possible, im willing to sacrafice the sound i want for power, cuz it will sound decent anyways. Right now im running a dual, ive got 2 stock cats, but beheind that its all pipes and it sounds kinda crappy.

get long tubes with it. it'll be the best option
Mac long tubes
Mac H pipe
and Mac cats

or u can still get flowmaster or magnoflo mufflers, its a 1 or 2 hp difference. i got flowmasters an it sound great, even with true dual.
i plan on getting long tube and cats tho soon

Not on an even firing motor...

and mac makes a great cat back to bolt up to the headers and H pipe if you wanted a perfectly matching setup. if i could do it all again, that is what i would do:

mac long tubes
mac o/r H pipe
mac cat back

Does anyone have an audio clip of this setup on a V6 anywhere? I cant find too many long tube exhaust setups for the V6...

Will this setup work? Or should i go with a magnaflow or flowmaster cat back?

not that particular setup. mac cat backs are deep like magnaflows but rumbly like flowmasters at the same time. they really sound great on our v6. the catted H pipe will make it a little less loud and a little more deep...

Im really having trouble with this, do you have a good setup that will work? Oh, and my car gurgles when i first start it, and i really like it, but after it warms a bit, when it idles it makes almost no sound, what causes that, and can i keep the gurgle somehow while i am stuck with my pipes for now? I think its because the RPM's drop down a little bit after the car warms up?

Do you know if illinois has emissions testing? I know that the shop i took my car to said he wouldnt take them off. Doesnt that make ur car's exhaust have a bad smell too?

emissions for IL i dont know.
shops cannot take them off anywhere because it is a federal crime, not state.
bad smell? yes somewhat. you wont notice it unless you are at a stop for a while idleing and back up or something.

the sound is in the muffler..X and H are the flow. but both are pretty much the same, not really any hp difference in it if there is at all.
either way both are the best set ups

There is a difference in sound between the X and H...The X is raspy and loud the H is deep and loud (but not as loud as the x)...

True, on the v6, there is a different sound with the H over X, the H being deeper, but the power will be the same because of the even firing order
