89 Fox Suspension

Ok,

I have new struts and shocks, and I am not impressed at all with my suspension. My 2000 Focus handles like a dream compared to this fox.

This is not how a sports car should handle, this is how my 1973 LTD handled, well actually I think the LTD handled better.

Ideas please..........................

The stearing feels sloppy and I feel like I could flip the car with a good hard turn to the right or left, and it rides like a Amish Buggy

the focus suspension is lightyears ahead of the fairmont/mustang's. you will never be able to make a mustang handle well and be comfortable to drive so some sacrifice will have to be made.

Would this coil over stuff do the job, or at least help? What about steering, I understand that you can replace the rubber washer type steering with a solid piece, and perhaps a new rack as well?

Thanks for the links.

I just used basic suspension parts, not Bilstein or any name brand stuff

to get the best of both worlds, you want a set of progressive rated springs ( or a set of factory cobra or mach1 springs)as well as a quality strut and shock, like the koni or strange adjustables. Coilovers will also work but the spring selection has more work involved as well as you might have to change them a few times to find some you like. The poly bushings and the solid steering shaft will help with the tightness but it will amplify the harness just a tad.

exactly. coilovers would be the best way to go since you could have less spring rate at the same wheel rate (less ride harshness and better handling), but like twist said it will take some experimentation to get it right...unless you can score some good advice from someone who has done the same.
