Exhaust tone through the RPMs

Hey guys, just installed MAC cat-back on my otherwise stock 02 GT 5spd.
Sounds great when I fire it up, rev it up and shift through the gears.
But I am kinda surprised and somewhat disappointed when I am cruising (2100 - 2500 RPM) the exhaust tone really drops off. Sounds the same as stock, a silent hum. I was really expecting more growl and sound at a steady cruise.
Is this normal? Just the way it is? Or is this a MAC thing?
Thanx!
