85 GT Front And Rear Shocks... Replacement Needed
hi fellows, i am new to the forum. i have been a mustang lover and owner since high school...
just bought a 85 gt with 62000 miles... nice nice car. it has ben lowered using eibach springs. the shocks are bad. i am having a hard time finding shocks that find an 85 gt.. they all say they have them for a 87-93.. but not for a 79-86 ... are they the same shocks ? front and back or are there any differences? if they are indeed different, pleae share with me what you did to install high performance gas shocks... |

On my 86 the front suspension consists of struts and the rear suspension is the shock absorbers.
My shocks/struts were worn out as well so I went with a matched set from Koni which I ordered at the local auto parts store and it wasnt too much at all. Around 200ish for the set. While I was doing that I went ahead and checked the play in the front and rear suspension and ended up replacing an inner tie rod end and a ball joint that both had ridiculous amounts of play. Also replaced the front sway bar bushings as they were bad and some other misc suspension stuff. When I got it all back together, man, car handles so much better now. |
