lower ball joint

My lower ball joint is shot! How hard is it to replace it? Tools required?

You need to remove the lower control arm, take to a shop, get the old balljoint pressed out and a new one pressed in. Other than that part the rest is straight forward enough. You will need a spring compressor as well (some people have managed without, but I would recommend one).

Have you considered just buying new '03-'04 Cobra A-Arms?

Comes with new brand new ball joints pre-installed, as well as a slightly improved turning radius, and new bushings... and you can pick them up for ~$150 + shipping.

Given that good ball joints are ~$50/each, it's not much more money for a lot less work... especially if you're paying someone to press your ball joints in and out.

Just a thought.

You don't need to remove the arms or a spring compressor. You can rent a tool to replace them from Auto Zone.It would probably be a lot easier if you removed the arms, but if you lift it up high enough and set it on jack stands it can be done.Hand tools and and 2-3 hours in the driveway and you can knock it out.
