Loud Roaring Noise

I have a 90 CHP 5.0. When driving I hear a loud roaring noise coming from the the front driver side of the car. The noise goes away in forth and sometimes in while driving in third. and I also have the problem of CEL (check engine light) going on only when I press the gas and then will go out again, Any help out there? What is the problem and can I fix it myself.

maybe an exhaust leak. Is the car down on power?

well that hard to say, sometimes it feels as if there might be more power then other times. I have noticed that it's riding a little rough.

If it runs a little rough at times, you might be experiencing a faulty sensor or an intake leak.
