Catted Mid Pipe-Where to buy???
Good Afternoon,
Even though I should not spend the money, I am really considering purchasing the exhaust system for my 02 3.8... I'm thinking a catted h-pipe, custom dual pipes, and flowmaster 40 delta(or is it 44?...lol, been a while since I last researched this) My problem is... Where can I find a catted h-pipe to purchase online??? Every time I do a google search, it's always threads in various forums of which mid pipe is the best! I found a Mac catted H pipe on AmericanMuscle.com, but it was discontinued ![]() I'm thinking Mac catted H, for the price and quality. I may consider bassani if it the price difference is not too great. I'd really appreciate any leads as to where I can start researching prices. Thanks a ton!

I think most places discontinued selling catted h-pipes. Try ebay, if not maybe a stock one from a GT?? Look around...

I live in RI, where we have to pass emissions. I wouldn't get away with off road pipes would I?
I'll have to find the sound clip of what I've been basing my decision on to compare it to.

You could just find a small shop and see if the guy will do it =) Or you could just hold onto the old one and swap it back in for inspection if you got the tools/abilities. Even if you get a catted-x they aren't bad either...my friend has a 97 GT with a catted-x and flowmaster super 44's. Its maybe a couple decibals quieter than mine (compare mine to the video). I've heard bassani x pipes have a good deep tone. It also depends on what mufflers you get. What kind of sound do you want?

I would prefer a deep solid sound, as loud as a v6 will allow. lol. I've heard the x-pipes are raspy, and was trying to stay away from them if possible. I don't really have the tools/skills to swap them back & forth.
I was originally thinking about changing the headers as well, but I believe the price would be too great. If there is a reasonable set of headers that would make up for the sound of an x pipe, I MAY have to consider that. Thanks alot for the responses, I appreciate all your input.

If you wanted too, you could buy an off road h-pipe then have a shop weld 2 universal catalytic converters in there and now you've got a catted h-pipe. Its not gunna be super cheap but you'll get what you want!
