Va Cops

Anyone here from Va know how bad the crackdown is on exhaust? I'm moving to Roanoke soon and just wondering if I can put some exhaust on an 04 gt.

va laws are not friendly towards exhaust, but you'll be fine with mid pipes and muffs. Unfortunately, the cats have to stay on for non antique vehicles. if you hear otherwise, or find a shady inspector, let me know! I would love to add some LT headers if I can get away with it.

I heard they are pretty tough. Little easier on muscle than imports though.

If you dont have cats and dont know someone or know where they dont pay attention then you will fail inspections...

Not a fan o state inspections...

I just had my 03 Cobra inspected at the local Ford Dealer in Norfolk, Kimnach and actually spoke to the insepector. We went over everything on the inspection and my Kook long tube headers were absolutely fine. Passed w/o problem. He told me the problem lies in the fact that people try to get by w/o cats. That is the key you must have cats. Otherwise get them LT's!

i have been living on the peninsula my whole life so i have been to many illegal and legal car shows and races *i have never raced at one of these events!!* but i have yet to see in my 23 years one cop actually take the time to look at it now my roommate used to have a ricer VW and he has been pulled and ticketed for his exhaust being to loud on the ticket it said the the "muffler did not serve it's purpose" lol but there are plenty of places around here that will pass you with no cats George's Towing here in williamsburg if anyone is near the area

A bit more in depth searching than WV. I can take my car to about 3-5 diff inspectors, pay for the sticker, and get it put on then leave. They dont really "inspect" cars in southern WV so you could run open headers and they'd probably give you a sticker lol. I know a bunch of trucks lifted here without the modified truck sticker here and they never get any tickets at all.
