Supercharger Ready?

I am looking at doing some work to a mustang, it is a 2006 Mustang Gt fully stock. What other work may i want to do to the car to make it ready for this 600 HP Supercharger if any? The model comes with a intercooler and pretty much everything that runs it pulleys, bolts, etc.

The supercharger is the Saleen IV for 7200 that puts out 600 HP.

check the internals and make sure they can handle 600. im not an expert on the 05-present mustangs. the internals might be able to handle 600. i know my 01 cobra can only handle 450-475 before stuff starts to blow...

He's pointing out that the stock internals (rods/pistons) may not be able to handle that kind of power. Like he stated, I don't know the S197s that well, but I know the 4v engines are limited to around 450RWHP before you are really playing with fire. And I would imagine that the 3V engines probably won't handle the kind of boost required for that sort of hp? So if you're on the stock block, you will want to look into what others with your car/setup are running. To get that kind of power, you may need to forge the internals first.

You can run up to 475 h.p. on the stock motor pretty safely. Anything over 500 is borrowed time. Depending on which supercharger you go with, that power level can happen at different boost levels. Most Supercharger manufacturers have kits that will put you right at 450-475 right out of the box, so not a whole lot of thought involved there. Pick your poison and throw it on for most kits...600 h.p. is a little too much for stock pistons and rods and you'll have to replace those with forged pieces if you have your heart set on that kit.

get your heads ported and get a forged rotating assembly i.e., crank, rods and dished pistons or purchase a built long block with ported heads and all forged internals.

you should also beef up your fuel system and make sure your oiling system is up to snuff

Most manufaturers' kits come with everything you need, even the fuel system. And these 3V engines don't need to be ported, or dished or even an oil pump upgrade. I put down 457/415 at the wheel from an out-of-the-box 8lb KB kit on a bone stock engine, and the only thing I had to do outside of the kit is get colder plugs and gap them down to .0025-.0030". The stock belt tensioner needs to be upgraded too, because it is pretty soft and easily broken. I'm still running the clutch it came with from the factory. You can't do that with a 2V. I've had it on for over 30,000 miles and still runs strong.
