Could Someone Explain This To Me?

here is a video of a cobra and a supra racing. i have two questions about the supra...when the guy is changing gears, why does it make that sound? and is that fire or something i see coming out of the exhaust? sorry im a total noob when it comes to cars. especially high performance cars.

No video???

If you are talking about the loud hiss when he shifts that would be the blow-off valve relieveing pressure...

Sometimes with the straight through muffler and exhaust cars will shoot flames...

When you post the vid people can explain it more...

yeah that is the hissing sound of the turbo, and the blow off valve!, and yes that is flames coming out, possibly unburned gas, getting that last spark? not so sure! nice vid tho!

it's a blow off valve not "blown off". if i'm right it releases excess pressure from the turbo when shifting, but i don't have any actual experience with turbo's

So your racin a friend and you have a Turbo on your car. Your at wide open throttle and then you take your foot off the gas.......WELL, all the boost you were making with the Turbo has to go somewhere and when you slam the throttle body closed by taking your foot off the gas, it gets expelled through the blow off valve! It just blows off excess boost so it doesn't hurt your motor.

It in a sense backfires while shifting because for that second the engines getting a shitload of fuel still and the BOV just dumped a lot of metered air which causes the extra fuel to backfire and expel flames out the rear.

It would be tits to have a supra but they are expensive and hard to find
they are fast as fuck if done right
I have seen a twin turbo cobra and they are fuckin sweet
and with the fire thing cant you put a spark pulg in your muffler and wire a switch to make flames or something like that
