There is no freon in this car (after 96 all vehicles have to have r134 which is a refrigerant, not r12 which is commonly refered to as freon). The first step in a/c diag is to check for compressor clutch cycling. Open your hood find your compressor and see if it is cyclinng or even engaging at all. If it is cyling every couple seconds your refrigerant is likely low. If it is not cycling at all it is either and elecrical problem, clutch clearance problem or your refrigerant is low causing your low pressure/cycling switch to remain open and not allow engagement of you're compressor clutch. I would hate to say this but without gauges and a knowledge of a/c system operation it may be very hard to diagnose. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. The refrigerant can be checked by using both the low pressure and high pressure service ports to monitor both low and high pressure to properly diagnose the a/c being inop. Also duct temp can be a good indication. Another thing to check for is a plugged rad or condensor which will cause the high side to go too high which causes higher duct temps and h.p cutout. hope this helps
