Help please! Clicking of death on 95 V8 T-Bird
Last week the car was running. A few days ago i go to turn the key to get only a clicking sound. Starter sylenoid? Starter? maybe the alarm is keeping it from starting like a failsafe? Heres the story. My mother in law gave us this car because they bought a new one and im always looking out for cars to keep miles off my 06 mustang. SO anyway, the car has an ignition problem. The key only works to "start" the car, it turns freely all the way over to the point of igniting. It wont turn on the acc or anything, its like its broken. I cant figure that out, so me and my dad were trying to find a way to HOTWIRE the main power source of the car to a toggle switch to keep from unplugging the battery everytime we cut the car off, so my dad is fooling around with this and that and he let 2 power wires touch and there was a spark, ever since then only the clicking noise. im stumped. I would just take it to a shop but i dont want to pour to much money into this car yet because i dont know how reliable it is yet. ITs got 215k miles, if it runs for a year ill be happy. Its a non turbo edition with a 4.6L V8. Any suggestions to any of my probs will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
