I went to the all Mustang & Ford show today only to find out that because of an early morning thunderstorm all was cancelled. There were a few cars that did come out and I was lucky enough to see the 1st production GT500KR sold to the public in the nation. Supercharged 5.4, rated at 540 HP.
It belonged to a local farmer here in Albion, Nebraska. He had quite a story that led to his purchase of the KR that included his on-going conversions with Ford & Carroll Shelby to ask that the KR be sent to him before the intended first release in July of this year.
His wife has been stricken with cancer and they've elected not to fight it anymore. They are not sure how much longer she has, but she's fighting all the way while continuing to work everyday too.
They are Mustang lovers and he has a 1968 GT 350, a 1998 GT and now the 2008 GT500KR The color scheme is his wife's favorite and her '98 GT has the same color scheme. He intends on keeping the KR and passing it down to his son when he decides to retire and "it is time". He was probably the nicest and humblest man I have met in a long, long time. In my feeble mind, a true testament to what being a Nebraskan is.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family at this time.

Because of the early release it had not been thoroughly checked by the EPA to make sure it met all of the EPA requirements. It will by July...
