U.S 41 Dragway. A little eye opener

For anyone that lives on the westside of Illinois or Indy or anywhere around. If you have ever planned on attending an event there i strongly disadvise you to. This is a little email i got back from the owner. Denny Rich, whom also owns house of horsepower in valpo indiana. This is in regard to a mardi gras event which i drove 2.5 hrs to. Spend 40 dollars in gas and at the gate paid 25 dollars to race.

From Me:
Regards,

Last night I expirenced some of the greatest discuss of my entire life. If you planned Mardi Gras to be a bunch of girls showing their tits, tell people at the door who want to race. I didn't come to this event to see girls get nakes or some stupid sound competition. I came to race. I payed to race and I am irrate with you track, your crew, everything. When the people running the event are absolutely plastered drunk do you really expect anything good to happen? I drove over 2 hours to get to your event in hopes of settling some grudge matches. But obviously, you chose to false advertise in hopes of making money. I will never attend another event at your track. I will tell everyone I know not to attend your events because I am discusted. You let the people that came to race down and you made tons of people mad. Just a little heads up. Next time you hold an event like this. Just say its a Nopi Night, cause thats all it was. There was no intention of racing.

Steve

His First Responce:

glad you had a great time ... hahah you must be an idiot if you thought anything different from mardi gras night hahaha

And the second before i could respond:

Hey brainiac Steve, did you not see the track crew drying the track for 3 hours? Do you not understand you cannot run on a wet track? Do you not understand what mardi gras is? Do you live in a box? Do you have nothing better to do then complain like a school girl?

Now honestly. The event was advertised as being a grudge match type format. The poster said no timing system and that if you had a grudge match this was your event. That was far from the truth. They had absolutely no itention on racing and that is why i will never be going to this dragstrip again.

When the owner of a company that is promoted by word of mouth mainly says this like that to customers. thats rediulous.

Boycott U.S. 41 along with the Indiana Wildhorses and many other individuals.

The event was horrible. Never have I seen or heard of a track where the track officials are allowed to get drunk and throw beer at each other. This track has definitely gone down hill since Denny Rich started taking car of it. It is an absolute dump. It became so bad that fights were breaking out both on the track and out by the cars. Now I understand why there are not a lot of people that go to this track anymore, I know I never will again. I also understand why I never see any cars over at House of Horsepower. The individual in charge of running both is unprofessional and doesn't know how to properly run a business.

Personally I used to always really enjoyed US41 Dragstrip. The only problem is it is so damn far away. I never went there for any form of professionalism, but there really isn't a better place to hit up Test & Tune in the Chicagoland area and get as many runs for as cheap as they let you get in.

Great Lakes Dragaway is extremely neat, but they cost almost as much as Route 66 does which is right next to my house.

I understand why you'd see this as completely unprofessional, I haven't been there all year. Last year I started to get disgusted with them for always being closed, and not during the time in which there was a family ownership problem in court. I would on occassion drive out there, all 90 miles one-way and find out they were closed for whatever reason. They used to never post closings on their website, so the only people not out massive bucks were those who lived in Morocco, IN which is horribly boring, tiny, and small.

Fact is, with gas prices as high as they are, I take the car out maybe twice a year as opposed to twenty times or more a year to run. Simply can't afford to go anywhere else besides Route 66 and I really dislike that track, it's straight-up $$$$$. There's no atmosphere there, it's a mill to collect $40 and let you run twice since it's so packed full of old garage queens.
