Stock 3:27 vs 3:55 gears swap. Worth it?

Will I see a huge difference if I go from 3:27 to 3:55 gears? I dont want to go any steeper than 3:55 since I drive on the highway alot.

I have 3.73s and do a lot of highway driving. I don't think mpg changed too much. Go for 3.55 only if you get it so damn cheap you have to.

Go for 3.73's.

I run 4.10's on the highway all the time. 500 miles a week. 3.73's will not be a problem. Unless you consider a perennial smile on your face a problem.

3.55 won't make much difference. Go with 3.73, still good on freeway

Here's a really lame chart for you. Basically, this is what rpm you would have to turn with the respective gears to go the same speed as you would turning 2000 rpm with 3.27s

3.27 -- 2000 rpm
3.55 -- 2171 rpm
3.73 -- 2281 rpm
4.10 -- 2507 rpm

I agree that if you are going to spend the money go with 3.73s. But, this is not exactly an irreversible decision. You can tame down 3.73s with taller tires. For example, if you are currently running a 17' wheel with a tire that has a 110mm wall (245/45, 275/40, or 315/35) then you can go to perhaps a 255/50. This taller tire will make the 3.73s behave as if they were 3.55s. If you want 18" wheels then a 245/45-18 is the same diameter as the 255/50-17. Just bigger wheel and shorter tire.

The new cars coming out have advertised lower gear ratios then our. But, they are also running 20" wheels.

You'll barely be able to tell the difference, 3.73's are pretty do-able and easy going.

I now have had my 3.73s in long enough to get a good idea of the gas mileage. 3.73s will most likely reduce your gas mileage by 2 mpg. If you drive 20,000 miles per year and if gas is $3.00 per gallon then additional cost of 3.73 gears is about $273 per year. That's $5.25 per week.

Don't waste your money on a 3.27 to 3.55 swap.

Go 3.73 or 4.10's and you'll love them.

My Mach 1 had 3.55's stock and I swapped to 4.10's and I love them. (I drive about 90% Highway FWIW.)
