Down and Out for the count!!!!

Allright guys I know I dont post alot on these forums but now I need some advice. I got a 99 GT stock with about 135000 miles on it and Ill take the blame I got sidetracked and what not she got low on oil and now we got a rod knock! At least im 95% sure its a rod knock started off really light and only at like 2200rpm and when you got off the gas and clutched in and released the load off of the motor. Well now its KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK all the time unless its under a load and even then after about 1800 rpm it starts to knock under a load anyway Im pretty sure its a rod knock and was wondering how hard it would be to pull the oil pan and replace only the bad rod bearing just to get me by for a few months or is there a better solution without pulling the whole motor.

an engine with 135k... why not just replace the whole engine with a used $800 one? Going in there to replace one bearing is absolutely pointless on an engine with that many miles unless you plan on building the fuck out of the block.

And unless you know exactly what you're doing and have worked on engine internals before, i wouldnt ever suggest doing this yourself. And a shop will charge you $800-$1000 just to pull the engine, plus another $600-$800 on the repair, + the cost of parts... might as well just replace the whole engine. cuz if it really is a rod knock or thrown bearing, thats bad news... your engine is basically toast... just get a new engine and swap em.

+982734, Just get a new one man. If you have run it low on oil for awhile no telling what else is ready to give.

I Spun a bearing. Shop wanted $3,200 to repair. I said forget it i can make the same repairs for much cheaper.

Knowing what I am doing is not a factor and I totally agree on swapping a new motor in!!! But I am on a very very very limited budget and I can prob get it done in a days work. This fix isnt meant to be a permanent fix. I just wanted to get a new bearing in it before I stick a rod through my block and then I am just SOL!!!
