melted headlight socket

Ok so I turned my lights on to check them today and noticed the passenger side headlight is dim. I know this because the person that had the car before me used those cheap high watt bulbs that melted the housing pretty good. If I apply light pressure on the socket and press it against the bulb, the light lights up full power. The wiring looks fine and nothing seems melted just the socket housing. Should I just get replacement one from ford? They want $35.00 for one. Is it pretty easy swap..just splicing

the wiring may look fine and not be fine. It sounds like wiring to me

you can get a replacement socket at a parts store as well, and its is just slicing into the existing wires.

if you splice it do it right and solider it...chances are the connector took a shit on you, the wiring usually will be easy to tell if its bad.
