Is This Normal?

Is it normal for a car to have a clutch slipping, when cold, in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th with 3/4 throttle, and not in 1st even at full throttle in first gear. I may be wrong, but it feels like the clutch slips. It seems like it stops once Im driving for a while. I thought once a clutch starts slippin, it will slip in all of the low gears with alot of throttle.

manowar, check this out, on modernracer.com it says that the 03-04 cobra runs the quarter in 12.7 sec, a few weeks back I was watchin a show on speed channel that was showcasing the new shelby cobra and they said the shelby cobra does the quarter in 12.6 sec. I thought that was kindof weird, i figured the shelby would do the quarter alot faster than my cobra

with a good driver theyve been going 12.3-4 theyll beat your cobra. but they are pig heavy and even with 500 that slows em down a lot. ford could have done better. but its still a cool ass car

It's not slipping in first because it takes less Torque to move the car.

The GT500 is heavy but that comes with a more stiff body and the drive train is 400lbs more then the 03', side airbags and 14" brakes. I think that extra 200-300lbs over the 03-04 is worth it.

What it boils down to is, Every time a new model is built, it will be better then the previous one. The GT500 may be done in 2007 and replaced in 2008 by the GT500KR, but that has not been announced. I feel sure it will happen in 2009 though. So for now, the GT500 is King of the mustangs just like the Terms but not for long.

there was an article in 5.0 mustangs and super forgds that compared the GT500 and Terminator side by side on the dyno and the track with the same bolt ons. the gt500 made about 117ft lbs more peak torque and about 108 more peak hp, but only ran the quarter about 1/2 second faster (traction was a big issue)

Do you mean .05 second? half a second is kind of a big deal.

it was .5 not .05. i have the same issue. as for the clutch, like man0war stated, it takes less torque to move the car in first gear. unless the clutch was really bad you probably would never feel it slipping in first. get a good clutch and it should last you for a good while.
