Rear end size

I've been searching for a definitive answer on the forums and I haven't found one so I'm gonna ask...

As per a 99-04 Mustang GT- is it possible to have a 7.5" rear end OR the 8.8"? Or does this model just come with an 8.8" rear end?

And all mustangs concerned- what rear ends can be mixed and matched flange to flange?

Finally, when someone says "Yeah, my cars' got a very strong rear end" What does this mean and please describe what parts can be exchanged to create a strong rear end?

Thanks, Matt

Re: Rear end size

^^ Agreed. And in addition to what he said about the stronger axle (which he pretty much named the essentials) it could have welded axle tubes, axle brace, girdle cover, and torque box re-inforcements.

The only thing that you need to worry about switching between "all" mustangs is the axle shafts. 94-98 shafts are shorter than 99-04 shafts
