I know, but if I had turbos I would be running some serious boost. What do you think the block and crank can handle. I can't get a straight answer from anybody.

What block.

What crank.

Even If I give you an answer out my book, there are others that WILL not agree to it...

Do you want an answer or a safe safe no fail answer...as long as the tune is good....

Nah... I've just got a list of random crap I've thrown together. I'm looking at replacing damned near everything in my car. The costs obviously aren't final, and some shops get pretty good discounts on parts, so it might not end up costing me as much as I've totalled it.

Iron block- 1Khp
WAP Alum block some say 350, I have done 700...others have egg shaped the cyls at 400.
Teksid block 800+hp
5.4 Alum block 1300+hp easy
5.4 steel block 1300+hp easy

Stock CAST crank 4.6 600-700hp daily driven, wouldnt go much past 550-600 if track raced and lugged.
Forged steel 'cobra' crank. 800+. I have seen 1000+

Help?

The stock crank is generally said to be good to around 600hp. The block is good to 800-1000. I have never heard of the stock iron block having issues. Generally people use the Cobra racing block when they rebuild. The only difference being a slight difference in the casting process that makes the lower portion of the block as little stronger. Not a ton of difference though. At the point you are willing to be pushing the limits of the block, you should have replaced the crank anyways, so a new block is not an unreasonable expectation at that point.

I should have replaced the crank while I was in there.... 600 hp is enough to get you to the low 11s right?

NeverEnough, are you talking about a GT crank or a Cobra? As for the power question. MM&FF had a 600 hp vortech car do 9.99 on drag radials. Project Ice Box I believe it was called. It had the full MaximumMotorsports grip box (a road course suspension). With full drag suspension and slicks, you should easily be able to brake 10's.
