Aftermarket fiberglass hood. Hood pins or factory hood latch???
I am about to install an aftermarket fiberglass hood and worried about the hood flying off at high speeds. I never liked hood pins and think they look awful, I want the clean look of a factory install. Has anyone just installed aftermarket fiberglass hood with the factory hood latch and had no trouble? I maybe will install a bungee strap for added security incase , but dont think I am going the hood pins route.

You should go with both if you can but paint the hood pins to match your car. It will make them harder to see and still keep the hood from flying off.

I have a Cervini's aftermarket hood. I'm running only the stock hood latch without any problems. If you look at the pictures on this forum you will see lots of aftermarket hoods without hood pins.

Yeah, I know that fox body mustangs are prone to hoods flying up and smashing the windshield. Dont know about 99-04 but I thank you for your input. Nothing is scarier than driving on the freeway and having the hood fly up puting your life in danger and others on the road.

I went with hood pins on mine. I got sick of seeing the hood shake in the corners. Started to scare me.

Something to keep in mind, my car was in a wreck before i got it, the guy just bumped into the back of another car. I'm not exactly sure how they got there but there are two small swells in the edge of the hood where it appears the cables stretched tight against it. I havent been able to figure out how the cables became tight since the pins would have been in the hood. but if the cables had been just a little longer, the hood would probably still be in perfect shape.
It would also be a good idea to insure that you attach the cable to something that will not move if you do have a fender bender. such as the base of the hood pin since if the hood pins move, you really dont have to worry much about your hood anymore anyways.
