? about clutch replacement of my cobra

Ive never done any work with trannys. Do ya'll think it would be safe for me to try to do it myself with a little help from a technician. Theres a do it yourself auto shop on my base, it has lifts and all that good stuff, plenty of tools, and there r technicians there that can only verbally help people, they cant actually do work for us. Its a T56 Tremec 6-speed. Thanx in advance for any advise.

if you know much in that territory then ok. but here is a warning THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE ASS!!! if you have all the tools and a helping hand is nice then you should be able to do in several hours.

Are you replacing with stock clutch or upgrade? If there is a tech there you SHOULD be ok, but from what I've heard they have the tendency to be a real pain.

I want to upgrade, what brand clutch would ya'll recommend for dependable street use and high performance at the same time, cuz its gonna be my daily driver for a while?

Centerforce DFX is a pretty good way to go. I have heard alot of good things about them especially when it comes to daily driveability. Plus it has the strength to hold future mods. What do you have done to it so far?

Have a McLeod in my Cobra, but all I've driven is that one and my stock, and of the two, the McCleod is soooo much better. Holds better, engages better, and it's easier on the leg to boot.

Went with it on suggestion from Maximum.

ive got a spec 3 in mine but im pushing a lot more pwoer than you, so i would also reccomend the centerforce dual friction. its a better street clutch. my spec, you do not want to get into traffic with it. its either on or off and takes a lot of force to push it in

I guess i cant say much because im a tech and i dont find them a pain in the you know what. But they are not 5.0 easy. Thats for sure. I know the base automotive shops and they do have limited tools thats for sure, but with all the boxes combined you should be ok. I say give it a shot. As for choices, they are unlimited haha. I have heard bad things about almost all of them. so i cant say any of them are better. I had Ford racing, it was absolute crap. My opinion. I now have a Spec and i like it alot. My buddys have had centerforce and didnt like them and did. Also have a buddy at UTI that saw a Centerforce explode through the bellhousing. haha. So i mean im not steering you away from any of them. My only expierences are ford racing and spec.

Good luck
