GAUGE LIGHT SWAP help
Hey guys I have a 98 GT that is entirely blacked out now I am looking to replace the lights but not the gauges from stock green to a red I was wondering if anyone had tips or the know how to do so or if I even can. I would love to have full black interior and exterior then bright red gauges.

the lights themself are white. its the guages themself are green.. so u have to order custom black guages that have red inserts. there is a company that makes a full black panel that uses lids that must be on too see guages, day or night. or you could smoke the inside of your cluster cover lightly...

i know. u want when u turn ur lights on it turns red not green. and this is only going to be done by changing ur lights a a bright red LED to voer power the green guages. or have a custom guage made. think of ur guages as a clear piece of plexi glass that is green. what they do is on the top lay down a small layer of white (what the numbers and letters look lke in day time) and then lay a thick layer of black down that covers everything other than numbers and letters. so when u turn ur lights on. it shines through the GREEN pastic and through the white layer and shows up green. OR think of ur tailights. they are red but say u want green. even if you put green lights in. they will still show up red because of the plastic.

I'd like to say that the clear is not green. There's actually a light blue film over the numbers. What causes the green glow is the yellow light coming from the incandescent bulbs behind it.
You might want to take a look at THIS The only problem you will run into, is getting the red tint. Note that the primary and secondary colors for light are not the same from when you colored back in kindergarten. That is Red, Yellow, Blue are the primary colors, mixing two of them gies you the secondary orange, green, purple. Light uses Red, Green and Blue. You can try picking up some RED LEDs that will fit the gauges and hope it will be strong enough to give a red glow, more than likely it will be purple however. Do some research though. Maybe you can remove that back panel.
