Nope, you want to get rid of one you have to git rid of both. No way around it unfortunately.

I did remove my abs but kept the ps. The abs unit weighed 9lbs.

ur wrong. you can have a hose made to loop instead of steering pump to booster then to rack. have it go strait to your rack. then ur return to your reserve and back to original cycle. hydro boost work basically opposite of vacumme. it pushes instead of sucks. when i swapped my 3.8 to 4.6 i didnt have the hydro boost system and just looped the line back to rack. it was a pain in the a-hole. and i drive two days with the ebrake. but you can bypass it. look up how it works and you will see how u can do it

Wait... are you basically saying to loop the lines?

If so, that doesn't retain power steering, that just retains the power rack. It's a drifter trick (that probably came from another source) to do a cheap manual steering conversion without having to get a manual rack.

You can't do that with hydroboost. The brakes are assisted by the power steering pump. I know people loop the rack with a hydroboost but thats basically a waste. Moving all that fluid with no power assist is almost worse than having a manual rack. To do it right you have to get rid of both.

This has been asked ever since the hydroboost came in the SN95's.

Well I think if someone wants to be serious about driving their car in any type of race condition they should switch their brakes to manual brakes. Once you have switched over to manual brakes your pedal feel will be much harder but you will also have very consistent pedal feel regardless what the motor is doing. I know some companies make kits that come with new pedals with revised geometry to make the pedal feel softer.

I plan to do the manual conversion on my car very soon, it is a daily driver and the weekend autocross, but it also does not have ABS and with the vacuum assisted brakes its sometimes hard to tell when the tires are locked up. With the manual conversion you are more "connected" with the feel of your brakes.

*EDIT
Bringing this back from the dead, haha my bad.
