Troubles Starting? HELP

So ever since I bought my Mustang last year 1998 GT I have had starting troubles. My starter is fine because it will turn over until the cows come home, BUT my engine just doesn't fire I can count to 4 mississippi while turning it over and then it barely goes. Also I can let it turn over for a few seconds, stop and then try again and it will start right up. Seems like its not getting gas in the rails right off or something. I've tryed starting it with my foot on the gas slightly that didn't help. I tryed starting it with my foot to the floor, that didn't help. I tryed pumping the gas before starting it, that didnt help. It seems to start the same way despite what I do haha its always on the second try of turning it over or about 4-5 seconds in letting it turn over. I have a performance chip which I heard makes a difference but don't know thanks for the help fellas! p.s new sparks, fuel filter, battery, everything been the same ever since I bought the car before and after mods.

before starting, turn the key to full on position(lights n dash will light up). wait like 5 full seconds and try starting it. I think that gets the fuel pump a little head start i believe

Then you might want to take it to someone who does know what to check. It's always good to get multiple opinions. It could be any number of issues.

Yes if you turn the key to on but dont crank it, it will prime the pump which will send fuel to the rails. Try replacing the fuel filter to, it can't hurt. Perhaps you may need some new plugs.

And yes that was much better! Thanks!

Umm it seemed to a little it didn't take as long but just curious do I turn the key all the way and hold it without the clutch pushed in so it doesn't start or just all the way to on so everything turns on? And do I pump the gas when the car is in the on position to help it or just let it sit for a minute?

Just turn the key all the way to the on position for a couple seconds then do the normal starting routine...push clutch turn key farther to start

So I turned it all the way on and left it for roughly 20 seconds. And yes it did help significantly. Just curious, do all you of you guys do the same to your cars before you start it? I had no idea that it primed the pump.

Well it sounds like you have a weak fuel pump or clogged/pinched fuel lines? Mine always starts right away
