washing that dirty 4.6


How do I go about washing this computer filled beast

they have degreaser at some carwashes. but everyone says to cover all your wires in aluminum foil and dont use high pressure. i just do it by hand. but if yours is really dirty i would try the carwash carefully.

just cover your altenator with a plastic bag, take it to a car wash, let it cool down completly, spray engine degreaser from your local auto parts store over the entire engine bay, let sit for 10 min and then pressure wash it. I have done this plenty of times and it makes a huge difference

I didnt kno you could or were supposed to do that, so are you?
and how often....?

with a 2006 i doubt you need it, us older cars like 99-02 need it after a while. and we are talking about washing down the engine bay and engine.

Yeah, engines are dirty things. Dirt, grease and other things build up on them and they need to be cleaned. Any person who cares about their car should know that and most of them do. A little grease-lighting and a power washer does perfectly.

Also you usually need to clean engine parts after you pull them out of a junkyard.

at my work we spary a mild degreaser on to the engine leave it runing and spray it down with water then spary some shinny stuff onto the plastics and send it through the wash (i work at a car wash in buford GA )
