Ricey or no?

My mustang, over the years, has come in contact with some unfortunate bumps and bruises and it's about that time to replace the hood and bumpers, with a complete repaint. I was looking at a few different options to make her stand out, but unfortunately most body kits out there for mustangs are horrendous. I've only come up with a few I like and wanted this forum's input on the subject.

So tell me what you think, or if you have any suggestions on any other kits please let me know.

First off, for ONLY THE FRONT BUMPER COVER (the rest is pretty ugly IMO):

The Stalker Kit

Second, possibly on the rear bumper, and my second choice for front bumper:

The Saleen Kit

I really don't want the car to look like a Faleen, however, thus the idea of combining the front stalker bumper with the rear saleen bumper.

Also, I might go with a stock hood, or possibly an '03 Cobra hood:

And lastly, I'm thinking of painting her Lemans Blue with double white racing stripes, like the old Shelby Cobras back in the late '60s.

I'm halfway to victory on my KB 2.1L fund, thus if a 13.8 isn't good enough hopefully whatever I can run with around 420 rwhp should be...

And I realize it's whatever I want to go with, but that don't mean I'm not open for suggestion

EDIT: Now also looking at the Roush front bumper

he wrote that because its corny when a car has alot of modz on the outside makin it look special while it has no mods to the performance

a car shouldn't be made to look a special way until it has been made to perform a special way

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. So you are saying you can't change your appearance unless you make perfromance mods?

I bought my Stang cheap so I could mod it as much as I could afford but there are others that would rather have it look a certain way. I don't think there is anything wrong with that IMHO.

Well most people do see something wrong with it. If you make a circus wagon (all show and no go, I'll explain it cause your definitly a n00b in the mustang world) you won't have any respect, you'll just be seen as a braggart and a fool. I'm guessing you haven't been around the muscle scene very long. If you have no power and you spend all your money on apperance mods, everyone will walk over you and speak badly about you behind your back.

If you make a circus wagon then your nothing more then a ricey and even I'll go out of my way to do something about it even if it means running your damn car off the road.

Your right, I have only been in the muscle scene for 10 years.
I don't have alot done to my car...Spintech side exhaust, o/r x, ported tb and plenum, aftermarket heads/cams, cai and a 100 shot.

Is it ok if I make changes to my appearance with those mods?

Regarding what I said earlier, if you want to do appearance mods without doing anything performance-wise, that's fine.

But, in the circles of people who know these cars, and can tell a '98 GT from a '98 V6 car with a glance at the front bumper, you end up being a poser (or peuser, if you prefer), and I'm gonna laugh at you. If you don't care what people think, and that's your thing, roll with it. I encourage it. I'm gonna laugh at you and think you're an idiot, but go for it! That's why we buy Mustangs, to modify them. But don't get pissed because people who think you're a moron for what you do call you a moron.

It sounds like the original poster has everything under control, I personally think there's nothing wrong with putting both saleen front and rear on there, assuming you don't put the sticker pack, too.

Jeez, I would have thought a reverend would be more forgiving. j/k lol Personally, to each their own, I don't have a problem with someone dressing up a stock ride, if it's done tastefully, and as long as they don't go screaming around in it like they think it's a top fueler.I've had more than one kid pull up beside me in a tastefully done honda/acura/whatever, and tell me they like my ride, and not stupidly try to race me. That's cool. The posers, as you guys put it, are the ones with a gigantic wing on a lime green four door accord with hub caps and a 4" garbage can on the pipe and a bone stock motor that stupidly fly around town buzzing like annoying go-karts.(Yes this guy is in my town lol)I don't know if I think the guys an idiot for driving that, isn't it bad enough the poor guy has to be seen in that anyway? Just my humble opinion.

Just curious, what performance additions are needed before appearance mods can be started?

You don't have to have any.

If I were to throw out a rule of thumb though, my personal opinion would dictate that you shouldn't be spending more on exterior mods than you have on performance mods. Of course, if you break something, you might as well replace it with performance parts.

Were I to go so far out on a limb to put out a suggested order of operations, I would say that money should be spent in the following order:

1) Best platform you can afford.
2) Fixing anything that's broken
4) Safety/Reliability (think brakes)
5) Driving schools.
6) Suspension.
7) Power.
8) Looks.

But again, that's me. Differing opinions are what make this fun. That and schooling people, that's fun too
