Rear window leak

My rear window is leaking and I have no idea why. The weather stripping around it is a little loose from what I thought was old age. I had a mechanic check the car out when I bought it and we determined it was not wrecked.

I think the rear window was busted out and the previous owner replaced it. When it quits raining, I'm going to hit it with the waterhose but i know for a fact its leaking.

Whats the best/cheapest way to seal these things?

Some kind of silicon might seal it back up a little but could look bad if not done right. What about just buying a new window or having a glass shop take it out and put new seals and everything in
