Striping clear coat off wheels
I want to strip the peeling clear coat off of my wheels but not the black paint. I want to color match the lip of the wheels to the orange i am painting the car. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the black safe from being striped? I dont know if masking tape would be enough to protect it?

Masking tape over the black and then sand off the clear.

It is going to be VERY VERY hard to protect the black. Sanding will take forever, but with the right tools, it will work. Besides, you do not have to get it down to bare metal to paint it.
