What could this be?......


so the emergency/warning light in cluster is saying i need to check my gas cap.. to quote it "check gas cap"... what does that even mean? i thought i could be my well my gas cap (where u put the gas in lol) wasnt on correctly but that wasnt it.. im confused guys.... any ideas would be great i dont wana take it to a mechanic for something this stupid...

It's means there is something wrong with the gas cap. Take it off and then try putting it back on. Look to see if it is damaged. It may be time to buy a new gas cap.

I think mine said that for awhile, and i figured out it was just a seal broken or something.

Check the rubber seal on the cap for cracks. If it seems to be ok, put it back on, then disconnect your battery for a few minutes. That should reset the computer and get rid of the light.

Also, there is a rubber gromet that goes from the filler neck to the tank that can wear out and cause engine codes as well. Dunno if that's it, but some FYI just in case.

duh im an idiot i didnt even think about disconnecting the battery.. thanks guys im sure ill be able to tackle this problem with all this help
