Never too it to the track yet!

I have a 5spd GT 99 and I have bbk cai, bbk under drive pulleys, cheap racing chip, 75mm plenum and t/b, and full flowmaster exhaust system 40 series into dump mufflers with no cats, I know it depends on the driver when shifting but roughly what should that run at a track and how much of a difference would a stage one clutch and drag radials make?

a clutch will not make you faster, unless your stock clutch is slipping. you should run 13.5-6 and with drag radials 13.3-4. At least thats what i ran with just exhaust and a shifter. and ran a 13.2 with the same setup with fats and skinnys

Thank thats what I though it be mid to high 13's without radials so should I go with 3.73 gears or 4.10 gears!

lol touchy arent we lol well hey I understand I just really wanted 2 know because some say the biggest difference depends on if your looking for on the freeway or from a dig on the track! but i check out the 99-04 page and I got an idea I dont have a turbo for boost! but unlike most people i try to max out the raw motor before throwing on the nos, s/c, blowers, and turbos thats why a lot of cars have problems putting too much power on a stock motor! ( actually this only applies to the GT models because mach 1's cobras and 5.0's have stout motors (although the cobra uses a 281 like the GT its a 32 valve doch gt is a 16 valve sohc) Thanks for the help!

1. Cobra motors are forged completely inside, whereas GT's only have the crank forged, and coupled with a lower compression ratio (8.5 to 1) than a GT motor (9.4 to 1) they do better standing up to with major FI than the stock 2vs. It has little or nothing to do with DOHC

2. Not only is cutting springs a bad idea, but you're going to want to get new aftermarket shocks and struts soon thereafter if not when you change out the springs as the stockers tend to get way too overpowered by the lower springs and fail easily.

Hope that helped your choices & welcome to MM

actually you are way off base there buddy, learn your motors before you go running your mouth trying to make someone feel stupid which you just made yourself feel stupid. OK Barrier, listen up. Cobra motors are not completly forged inside, only the 03-04 cobra motors are completly forged. The 99,01 cobra motor only had a forged crank but crappy pistons and rods. The GT's have nothing forged there you nitwit, everything is stock steel crank, hyperthitic pistons and junk rods. The same goes for the Mach 1 motor, except they have a forged crank i think, don't quote me on that one, it is actually junk also, alot of problems with those motors and just a little bit of boost.

Wow people are really hostile here...

Last time I remembered we had forged cranks, but that may be my brain confusing the old cobra motors with our GTs or something, I dunno. However, I'm regretfully apologetic that I didn't specify the cobra motor that I was talking about because I figured people wouldn't make a big hooplah about it, but I see I was wrong on that note too.

You, however, are taking a minute mistake in my response and throwing it way out of proportion, making a reply that is nothing more than an agressive post towards me. It's got flame written all over it.

Tell me, who's worse?

your right people tend 2 get a lil hostile here lol but I think its funny My comment was simply saying that a mach 1 has a lot of thing that are bigger than a GT motor wise! I said nothing about forged pistons or cranks tho but thanx for the tip on spring cutting our just order some!
