MANUAL! : My inner peace is found!

Hey there everyone,

I had posted a thread a while back, asking everyone for their opinions whether I should get a STICK or AUTO for my new Mustang GT.

After taking 3 test drives in the last week at local FORD Dealerships, I chose to drive manual in all of them. The salesman said I looked very comfortable driving stick, and that I drove pretty good throughout the test drive.

Then I later saw a 2010 MUSTANG GT w/AUTO at one of the other local dealerships.
I went in, asking them if I could test drive the AUTO, and they let me.

AUTO = NO FUN

You all were right! STICK is alot more fun, and I LOVEEEE driving stick. I just thought I would mess up the transmission, but I performed perfectly when driving (didnt stall the car, shifted good, clutch&pedal was pristine), and that makes alot of sense, considering BOB GLIDDEN taught me how to drive stick.

And if I had gotten an AUTO, what good would that do, after I was taught by one of THE BEST drag racers in the world?

The answer is: NOTHING.

THE SOLUTION: DRIVE STICK, and enjoy the ride. And with Glidden's help a few months ago, I'll put his good teachings to work.

So, thanks to all of you who did their best to convince me to get a STICK than an Auto.

I NOW KNOW WHAT YOU ALL ARE TALKING ABOUT: ITS SOOO MUCH BETTER WITH MANUAL!!!

I went out in my Dad's mach today, I enjoy driving it so much better
Not to say my auto s197 gt isn't fun, but I feel so much more in tune with the car itself and it's more of an experience rather than just "driving"

I too prefer stick. Except when I'm stuck in stop and go traffic for 3 or 4 hours.

well that's true, but sticks aren't the only thing men drive.

OP: how do you receive your new mustang? did they give you a coupon or something? lol

Agreed, manual's are so much fun to drive. My buddy purchased an '06 auto. Not quite sure why...

Turn the TCS "off" and let it hang out with a manual! Seriously, that's just fun.

At the 1/4 mile track all things being equal the auto is faster.

but... the 1/4 mile is BORING!!!!

Sports car + automatic = traveling
Sports car + manual = driving

Anybody that buys an auto DD for the sole purpose of a faster 1/4 mile... is missing out on the driving experience big time

Congrats on your purchase, now get off the damn forums and go out and take a drive already!

Yeah you will always love the manual. you will just feel more in control of the car. Before I got the stang i was looking for two things in a car: V8 and stick. camaros are to expensive...so mustang!!! never looked back

and witha stick, neither will you. Lookin forward to the 17th man!!

Stick is the way to go, once you drive it for a few months you dont even think bout doin it. I instinctively heel toe brake all the time it becomes second nature.
