thanks for your reply. I was told by a couple guys around here i could prolly get headers for around 250. and im not sure how much the mid pipe is. but there is a shop here in my town that i can get 2 flows installed for 200 bucks. so does the price for the headers just sound totally unreal?

if you want to go full catback set-up with either flowmasters or magnaflows, i would hit up www.completeexhaust.com
They have the best prices that I was able to find. |

don't go cheap! you need ceramic coated or stainless steal. If you don't they will rust! If you are looking for the cheapest things than you don't need to do any mods. Just wait if you have to.

my only thing is i dont want to sink my life fortune into it. i dont want to spend over 600 just for the exhaust. im not out to be the fastest baddest out there. my car isnt a show car anyway. the manifolds on it now, probably like all the 96 body styles are rusted, so whats the diff? I just want to do a little something to it without spending a ton.
Now i agree though on most things dont go cheap just wait and save and get good stuff. but i think in my case for right now with the stang i have, this is more just a fun car, till i upgrade in a few years and then make it really nice. know what i mean? |

If you don't care about quality, this is probably the cheapest new price you are going to get.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-04...76519794QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-98...spagenameZWDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-04...spagenameZWDVW This is L/T headers,X-Pipe, and Cat Back. Without installation this will run you about $800. You probably won't find any cheaper. |

First of all thanks everyone for your help and support! i finally got enough time to start my search. first site i went to was jegs and heres what i found.
DynoMax long tube : 319.99 dont know anything about this brand? BBK short (IF i decide) : 286.99 Longs are 405.99 Hooker x pipes : 163.99 hedman x pipes : 166.99 Flowmasters 40 series 79.99 on jegs but i know i can get cheaper ebay. So if i go with dynomax headers, hedman x pipes, and flow masters. before install it is $645.00 which i plan on doing the install myself anyway, my cousin is a really good welder. went to college for it. also used to own a mustang and his buddies and has installed several headers. Let me know any advise on the brand of headers and also should i go X pipe or H? they are around the same regardless |

You should go with the same brand headers and mid pipe if you can. You might have a hard time getting them to line up right. Cheap headers will be even more of a pain to install!

Shorty's are going to be a pain in the ass to install. At least, I think with the 99-04's, you have to raise the motor a couple inches to bolt them up. I would do longs, but if you don't have the cash, there's nothing wrong with that combo. Just know its gonna suck puttin those in. Oh... and +1 on the H-pipe. X-pipes give you a real raspy sound while the H-pipe will give you a deeper, more muscular sound... prob go better with flowmasters.

yeah the x-pipe will give you slightly better flow, but i much prefer the sound from the h-pipe.
sound from an x-pipe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqVjtDkyR-4 sound from an h-pipe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag73x9B6cVw
