Headers to catback set up, question.
I am not very educated on car parts. But i'm trying to find a picture of what a set-up looks like for Headers with a X-pipe for "true dual" exhausts.
And also, why is it that the Y-pipes are cheaper than the X-pipes. How do they differ? Thanks for your time |

Y-pipe is not true dual exhaust because the two sides come together at some point. But im thinking you meant H-pipe...? and x-pipes give you a LIL more power...but not sure why they are more...

In order for you to get a true dual exhaust set up, you'll have to get something custom made. I pretty sure no one makes that kind of set up. Like stated above an x pipe isn't a true dual exhaust. From what I understand the h-pipe gives you more low end power and rwtq, and the x-pipe give you more top end and a little more rwhp.
Here's a pic of a Cobra with LTs and an x-pipe: http://image.mustang50magazine.com/f...ust_system.jpg |

custom made? x-pipe isnt a "true dual"? but an h-pipe is? get the facts strait please.v6's use a y-pipe to a single in single out exhaust system. the gt's (this is the modular v8 section) is "true dual" exhaust from the factory. set of cast iron manifolds, stock h-pipe, and a "true dual" cat back. these cars dont have y-pipes, but the difference is that the y is used to bring 2 tubes into a single tube. the x and h-pipes connect 2 seperate pipes to help even the exhaust.

![]() This is what comes stock on the gt's. The mid pipe is as H but thats where the X would be, everything else the same

My Ideal setup is JBK. If i purchase "true dual" exhaust, do I need shorty headers? or long?
2005 2006 2007 2008 Mustang Exhaust Systems at V6MustangStuff.com Part# 40-2631 I'm looking at it, and I Dont understand where it connects under my car. thank you for your time, everyone. |

Depends where your at. If you arent lookin to go big you dont need longtubes. Stock shortys are just as good as the aftermarket ones. If you dont have emissions or smog get the LT's, but they are not necessary.
Dont know if this will help or not. Installing a GT-takeoff dual exhaust system on a 99+ Mustang V6

if you get LTs you'll need a shorty mid pipe, I would go with the X for the power and im told the sound is better with an X, I have SLP LTs with a SLP catted shotry X and LM I exhuast, it sounds F'in amazing and the car breaths like a mofo, I was happy with my setup

So I've Decided on JBA headers and they only come short style. But they Dont sell a X-pipe. So Would this set up work?
http://products.jbaheaders.com/detai...asp?id=40-2631 with JBA Performance Exhaust Part #:1617S****Cat4ward® Shorty I Won't need a cross over pipe since the exhaust comes with it, correct? Again, sorry for all these questions, yall' |

See, I noticed it has the whole setup, but mines an 08. I haven't found a whole setup.
And yes, i am willing to throw down the skrilla, since my car is all i spend my money on. The JBA exhaust I posted has the Mid pipes end in a H shape, right? and don't i need a mid-piece to complete the "true dual" name? Again, thank you for your time guys/girls. |
