you will be fine with a tuner, go with sct/diablo/sniper and it will all be good

Tuner will not hurt it. If it did the companies would't sell millions of em.

I have an SCT Xcal 3 tune for my car, and if he means hurting the car by making it quicker, then yeah. Other than that, no, it's perfectly fine.

Well, a Tooner can really mess up a car, but a quality Tuner will be fine. The preloaded tunes will be ok with mild mods only.

I had problems with the custom tune on my Xcal3, however, AM was very helpful and kept working with me until we got one that didnt cause any issues.

No. Programmers are perfectly safe. It's just the issue of finding a competent tuner who knows what they are doing. I'd only let a handful of people tune my car. There are a of people out there who think they know what they are doing but have no idea. Most of the reputable tuners can write custom mail order tunes that are better than the "local" guy. I had my car tuned by VMP Tuning when I had bolt ons. I ordered a mail order tune and than eventually got a dyno tune. Justin from VMP Tuning told me it'd be the case but I only gained about 3 rwhp between the two tunes. I'd highly recommend VMP Tuning for custom tuning. I'm making 524 rwhp on a Roush TVS on a stock longblock with 11 lbs of boost and I believe that the only reason why my motor has held together is because of good tuning. This is what you want.

+1 ^^^
ive been running a pre set tune with my xcal 3 and its been running just fine. if you ever get f/i of any kind that you wanna be careful with a pre set tune. thats when you wanna spend a little more and get a custom. and a few hundred bucks to get a custom tune is not expensive. its either that or a blown motor. i think the custom would be cheaper. +1 Tuners are safe if you go with a reputable dealer. If you have mild bolt-ons you are fine with the preloaded "canned" tunes too. Or you can get a custom tune dialed in for your setup. I am a big fan of SCT personally. I have had a custom tuned SCT Eliminator chip from us in my fox the past 5 years and it runs like a champ. Def the best idea, since your tuner will do most of the changes anyway, best to let him work with what he knows. Your more likely to get a good tune and not have issues.

Brenspeed tune SCTx3

I run the 93 octane canned Brenspeed and I'm happy I would like to say make sure you are pumping what ever tune you go with nothing against the Mom& Pop stores but I got not so 93 and it ran like crap I run Shell or Mobil or Sunoco and never seem to have a problem since!

I've tuned a ton of wild combos over email. Stage 3 heads, cams, boost, whatever. It takes a bit longer, and won't make the last few hp as a dyno tune, but its a great option if you don't have a local dyno tuner.
