So is the block from the cobra R the same block from the Ford GT (40)...also is the same block and internals from the 98 cobras the same as the 2003 cobra block and internals?

News Flash.... 03/04 Cobra has a Iron block...ealier cobras have an aluminum... difference is SN-95 ( 96-98 ) had a Teksid block compaired to the 99+ had a WAP ( windsor alum. plate ) block which is weaker than ealier blocks..although some 01's did recieve the older Teksid block.

Cobra R has a 5.4 Iron block as well, but not same as the 03/04 cobra block because like someone said the 03/04 have forged internals.

we wouldnt grill you, because its a good question and as far as i can see you werent the only one who didnt know. :wink

Also wanted to add that the Ford GT(40) and the new Shelby GT500 do NOT have the same engine. Yes, they share displacement and heads, but the GT has a aluminum block with a dry-sump system, and the GT500 has an iron block. GT500 is more akin to the Terminator motor than the GT motor.

Ok so let me get this strait. 03/04 cobras have an iron block...every other cobra before that had the aluminum whether it was Teksid or WAP block. Is that what you all are saying? My next question is the gt500 block...is that the same block that was in the lightnings. And is it the same internals as well. Also what motor is the new mustang gt motors...are those all new designed or what? And im assuming those iron blocks as well.

Im not sure but I think the gt500's have the same engine size as the lightnings (5.4L), maybe not the same type of block, and I think the lightning engines had forged pistons and a forged crank and the triton v8's werent forged, I may be wrong though

the new gt stang motors are still 4.6's
