Cars Overheating? I think?
So for the last couple of days my temp. guage is showing me that the car is getting alittle warm even on the highway but not to bad.
A day later my alternator was going bad and giving low volts so i replaced it. Runs great now but this morning when i was driving to work the temp guage wasnt reading at all. Around 10 min later it spiked for a couple of min then went back to normal but got real hot once the car warmed up. If i sit at a light the guage will spike until the car starts moving. When i got to work i popped the hood to see if the fan was coming on and it wasnt but i didnt let it sit long because the guage was tapped out. So does this sound like a guage or a fan or...... Im broke do to the altinator so hopefully i dont need a new fan... HELP

Do you have a tuner? I would check current data and check the ect sensor then pressure check the system. I am guessing you have air in the system and a leak somewhere. There is a bleeder screw in the top of the coolant crossover you can use to remove the air.

To bleed it i just crack it open and let the car idle?

yeah do that and monitor it. let the car get to normal OT and then check for air bubbles, squeeze the hoses to make sure all the bubbles escape, and top off as needed. also turn your heater to full blast. If your fans arent kicking on it may be because your sensor is bad and not putting out the right output to kick the fans on. If it turns out your sensor is bad ive got an old one that was working just fine only reason why i pulled it out is cause my when i ordered a new coolant crossover tube it already came with a new one.
