Info on SRA 8.8 weight
holidays are over...Im done being lazy and bored. Time to work on the car.
I built a new SRA 8.8 w/ everything done to it and I was hoping to see a total of 20-30lbs weight savings with the car back on the scales "including" my new wheels. well I got to weigh both rear ends today. Current 8.8 SRA stock length 9" ends Strange 33 spline axles Strange Spool FMS 4.10s FMS girdle FMS explorer brakes 1/2-20 3" studs Cobra pinion flange total weight - 196#'s New 8.8 SRA shortened 7" (3.5" each side) 9" ends Strange 33 spline axles w/ lightened flanges Strange Spool Strange 4.10s lightened Fore girdle (heavier than FMS cover I believe) Strange Pro Race brakes 5/8" studs Cobra pinion flange total weight - 168#'s so static weight alone I'm down 28#s which I'm shocked as my new wheels are another 3-4#s lighter each so total will be around 34-36#s saved from the swap. Alot of this weight is also rotational on the drive tires! Also....this will put my race weight around 3285 w/ me in it......oh boy.... ![]()

Sounds awesome man what did you do to shorten it? Also more info on the explorer brakes? I have never heard of that before!

explorer brakes are an easy swap when you run 9" ends. are cheap to get and work just fine as they are oem and have an e-brake
