Should I add friction modifier with Valvoline gear oil

I bought some Valvoline HP gear oil (not synthetic) from autozone, and was told I don't need to add any friction modifier. Because the Valvoline gear oil has that in there already. Has anyone used this brand of gear oil and not put the additive in ?

Do you have any noises when u make turns? I've already filled my axle up, but i haven't drove it yet....It took 2 - 1 quart bottles of gear oil, does that sound about right?

I use Lucas Synthetic only, and have had no problems. I fought with my rearend for a while (it was doing the popping and crushing sound), and tried to use extra friction modifier in regular gear oil- that didn't work worth a damn, so I tried the Lucas- 10,000+ miles and no gremlins........
