subframe connectors?

ok so I am not satisfied with the way my 2004 mach1 handles. Like crap if you ask me.

Are subframe connectors a good thing? I am not so sure because it does add weight.

Eventually I will install a new suspension at some point as well but from what I understand the subframe connectors increase rigidity which is a good thing.

Any opinions?

the weight they add isn't something you should be concerned about. they're not adding 100s of pounds anyways, their overall impact on your power/weight ratio is quite small.

The improvement in handling characteristics is why people install things like upper/lower control arms, sway bars, subframe connectors, etc.

did you seriously just say full length subframe connectors add weight? come on man. thats about the silliest thing ive ever heard. they weigh maybe like 20lbs. hell i have heavier dumbells than BOTH of my subframe connectors.

as for the difference they made....man did they make a difference. my mustang feels like its on RAILS now. corner and even BRAKING got a boost from it. yes i said braking, i noticed a difference in the braking in that it was more uniform and worked together. seriously just get em. dont ask anymore questions just get em.

He already said, he was not happy with the current performance. The stock ones on the mach 1's are trash to say the least.

You should still upgrade them to a decent set of full length weld in types. Maximum Motorsports are a great product, and worth the money.

The SFC's will tie everything together, making your car more efficient in power transfer, braking and cornering. It will amplify the effect of any suspension changes you make and make the car safer.

arent the mach sfc's just the bolt on ones from the convertibles? and +1 maximum motorsports sfc's are awesome, full length, weld in, and they bolt to your seats too, they make a HUGE difference in the whole feel of the car.

I ordered MMFLSFC a month ago and still waiting to get them welded in... I wouldn't be able to use them anyways because of the snow, but still. From what I've read and researched MM was the original designer of the Full length style.

What do people mean by safer? like in an accident or just that your brakes, handling will improve so thus you can avoid accidents better?

there are safer in a crash in that they allow the energy to fully travel the length of the car instead of crumpling right in the middle....where you guessed it!!!! you are. thats on top of the handling/braking part of it too

Might be the wrong thread but I have been looking at 10-point roll cages all day. I was wondering if Jegs' fit just as nice as MM's?

yea kinda the wrong thread, but anyways ive heard that the MM's fit beautifuly, ive never heard of anyone who has used the jegs one. Check out wolfe racecraft, make a very good product from what i hear. I just got mine back tonight from having a custom 10 point cage put in and i must say its awesome and you might want to consider having a custom one bent if you are worried about precise fitment.

back to subframes, are buying the discount ones from LRS a stupid idea? like, are they not as stiff and such? because they are a fraction of the cost of MM's

Lets not forget at that point (400rwhp) you'll need a few other things. Like Building up your torque boxes. I hear Battle Box is a good by wild rides. Only really needed when you start doing 6k launches on slicks, lol.
