Which tire size looks BEST?

Hello guys,

Its time for new tires in the front and wanted to get peoples opinions on what looks best for my 18x9 wheels in the front. I have currently 245/40/18 in the front and 295/35/18 in the back.
I was thinking of going wider in the front like 265/35/18
Do you guys think that would look ok or maybe better looking than what I have right now?

Also, 245/40/18 vs 265/35/18, which would sit lower in the front as far as height goes? Im a noob so sorry it if question seems dumb to some. Thanks

I would go 245 up front because i think 265 is a little too wide upfront

Also in the 2 tires you listed the 265 would sit lower. Though the only digit that matters height wise is the second.

Its Width/Height/Rim size

too wide upfront and you might get rubbing issues in parking garages/lots. If your going for looks, I think a slightly larger(diameter) would look better as it better fills wheel gap. Wide tires do look good in the rear, but up front its not a huge deal, as you already have 9 inch rims.

Pics? I just went with the 265/35/18 up front and for some reason it seems like it sits higher thank when i had the 245/40/18 . Is it because these are new? How long does it take to break in new tires if that is a correct term to use? Thanks

The second number in a tire size is a percent of the first number. Theres an equation to figure out the diameter of a tire and it is as follows:

(((Side Wall/100) * Tire Width) / 25.4 ) * 2) + Rim size

So then

265/35-18 = 25.30in tire
245/40-18 = 25.72in tire

The difference is almost half an inch but in the wrong way. Its an optical illusion of sorts because there's less tire and your eyes trick you because you've had a different size tire there before.

The other part to how long it takes to break in new tires depends on how you drive. I know when it comes to drag racing they recommend you drive around on tires at least a day to scuff them in a little bit.

I don't really have good pictures of my front tires but here are some of my 275/35-18s on the front.

I think you hit the nail on the head, it is tricking my eyes now. So in fact it is lower in the front by a half inch, less tire there but more fender gap.
Thanks for the pics, nice car you have there. What springs do you have ?

I agree. The rims are sweet! Maybe do need to lower it a bit, but nevertheless it looks good.

Those pics are before I lowered it. I have H&R Super Sport lowering springs. They lowered the car like 1.5 in the front and 1.75 in the rear. The car is almost too low at it is, but thanks for the compliments.

as it sits now

AH! Much better. Do you have much fender gap in the front? If so how much ? And did you need CC plates or re alignment? Very nice stance I must say

how stiff are the springs for somethin like that, i have a problem with my suspension being too soft and if i hit a dip/bump in the road too fast my rear tires scrape the inside of my quarter panels.....

i want to know because i really need to lower my car since it is about an inch higher then stock ride height but i dont want to cause any more tire to body contact ya dig?

Well stiffness versus softness will depend on the spring rate. These springs are extremely stiff in my opinion but if I go over a bump faster then I should I'll still hit the wheel inside the fender.

Particularly if I back out of my driveway with two people in the car I'll get the passenger rear tire every time. I'm actually scrapping chunks out of the tire.

I'm using 285/40-18s on the back and the only word I can think of when describing them... is meaty.
