Yeah, go to YouTube and type n 5.4 mustang comes up with a few. So is there really no advantage in doing a swap from the 4.6?

There can obviously be advantages. You gain additional displacement, so alot of mods you do (in comparison to the 4.6 3v) will give you a better return. Throw in some cams and a nice intake to move the usable RPM's to where you need them and you'd have a healthy car.

interesting, I know a lot of people do the 5.4 2v swap with sn95 stangs due to it being basically bolt-in. never heard of the three valve 5.4 ... i'm guessing its newer...like in the last five years or so?
Edit: just looked it up on wikipedia...cool

^ he has a v6 so it would also give him the better desgined 3v heads. also as far as i know there isnt an intake for the 5.4 3v that isnt for a truck motor (not 100% because i dont check out 3valves often)

ok, just do your research tho beforehand. i dont want to get in any arguments so i wont post anything else. there is 2v, 3v, and 4v remember so you have lots of options. just make sure the one you pick is the one you want and you researched everything that it entails.

idk, just assumed buying the motor would be expensive, i mean the only 5.4 4v that i knew about and have seen are the gt500 motors and those run like 15 grand by themselves on ebay

Do any engines have more than 4 valves? Like a 5 or 6 valve? Bugatti??

yea ferrarri has some 5 valves unless im mistaken but from what i understand 4 valve is a better design and they will be switching back to 4valve at some point.
anyway back to the OP, well yea the gt500 engine is going to be expensive but why in the HELL would you buy something from ford directly. thats like just asking to get butt raped. if you want a 5.4 4v for "fairly" cheap go to some junkyards and look for a lincoln navigator motor |

Mid 2004 with the body change came the 5.4 3v. stock its 310hp and 370ft lbs.
It motivates my 04 F150 pretty well, quick enough to beat and keep up with stock 5.0 cars in a 6800lb truck
