Best/worst mods you've done

I remember seeing one of these threads a while ago and thought I would see if I could start it up again. Maybe steer some members away from making bad decisions.

What is the best mod you've done to your car so far...
and what is the worst...

For me the best mod so far has proven to be Royal Purple Synchromax trans fluid. I couldn't even drive the car when I bought it because I would grind every gear unless I babied it in. I remember the first week I had it I got owned by a ricer in a Honda because I couldn't get out of first. Now I can powershift no problem.

The worst mod that I bought didn't even make it on my car. It was a set of off-brand subframe connectors for like 50 bucks. They were flimsy as hell and didnt line up at all. They were sold to some chump at a pizza parlor with a beat up fox body. Replaced with a set of Maximum Motorsports full lengths that are hopefully going on by the end of the month.

I learned you get what you pay for.

What other lessons has your Mustang taught you?

+1 on the lowering springs. I should have gone with a set of lakewood drags. My bbk's look great but dont allow weight transfer like i wanted

I haven't modded enough to even consider myself worthy to put a best and worst on here ... I've added CR1 Corbeau Racing Seats that match my interior ... I have a bunch of stuff lying around I need to add to the car but haven't gotten around to it

worst = spending all that money on a cold air intake, plenum, throttlebody, and plenum spacer to only notice better throttle response.
lesson learned = save your money for something thats really gonna do something nice.. FI

best = exhaust.. whatever you choose.. but i have slp lm1s and love them. sounds great

that's why i bought my frpp progressive b springs. they hook up rather nicely and offer a very nice subtle drop

exactly what i was thinking. theres nothing worth doing to the car besides a midpipe and catback. hell, even cutting cats and welding in mufflers would probably have the same effect. otherwise, you need forced induction to really make our cars compete.

best: bilsteins all the way around

worst: cut coil with removed isolators up front.... it was an experiment... I will have coil overs in a few months (the ride is a bit harsh and the suspension bottoms out on significant bumps - partial fix will be cc plates to raise the strut mounting point to prevent some of the botoming out.)

edit: sorry guys, I thought this was in the club house

Cobra:
Best - Bilsteins
Worst - Tri-Ax shifter (it was better after I tossed that stupid shorty handle and put my stock handle on the tri-ax base).

Fox:
Best - CC plates. Having a performance alignment make a world of difference.
Worst - Strut tower brace. Manages to block both the oil fill AND master cylinder caps, and I'm not convinced it actually does anything useful.

i actually had a noticeable improvement in how my 96 drove when i added the factory strut tower brace back on (it was off to replace a cracked intake) although to be honest when i look at my front wheels, i notice a lot more negative camber with the brace off. (im lowered on frpp b springs with full poly isos all around) and then it seemingly disappears when i put the brace back on. im sure if i had it aligned properly without the brace on it would probably be the same as driving it with current alignment specs and brace on. otherwise - lots of bumpsteer and an overall rougher ride with the brace off.

i may buy a catback just so i can have the tips. although LT's, o/r X, and SLP LM1's would be awfully loud, wouldnt it? especially with PI cams/PI intake.
