More horse power
Ok I've got a 98 cobra that's been rebuilt and has a 299 stroker kit in it. I also have new pistons that make a 11:5:1 compression ratio so If I supercharge it I may need race fuel which I do not want. Would it be better to get better heads and get them ported and polished and throw cams on there or would that be really exspensive? I want around 550 hp and once I get my car tuned the stroker kit should bring it up to around 400 hp from stock.

11:5:1 is high for forced induction u will need to run a minimum of 100 octane

Even 11.5:1 CR is high for a full blown race engine with FI. So if this thing is mainly for street duty, then supercharging is out of the question unless you can drop the static compression ratio.
If your looking for 550hp without changing much... Consider N20. If your combination can pull 400bhp N/A, then you wont need much Nitrous to get 550bhp out of it. |

Yea I feel like dropping the compression will be too much, and I don't wanna wear down then engine so I think nos is not the way to go. Someone told me a good pair of heads would do the trick

Yea I realize that I've got all forged internal, I've already said I'm prob not gonna supercharge so what about head and cams has anyone done that to their 4 valves?

Nitrous does not "wear down the engine" anymore or less than supercharging or turbocharging.. or even a high output N/A engine.
If you dont want to drop the CR or use FI (or N20 for that matter) then just focus on induction, fuel and timing. Maximizing your valvetrain and headflow, coupled with a matching intake and fuel system would be a good start. However, if your goal is 550bhp, it will NOT happen realistically without Nitrous or Forced Induction. |
