Managed a deal on a mach 1

But I'm having trouble figuring out how to get a temporary tag for it. I live in NC and I'm buying it from a guy that lives in GA, and he still owes on the car but the company he finances through is in another state. In order to get the tags and pay fees and taxes and crap don't you need the title? Which the title is in another state with this financing company so it would be a couple weeks before I could even get tags for my car? I've called a couple DMVs and it doesn't seem like I'm able to get temporary tags for it, which makes no sense at all. I just got the loan today, so I REALLY wanna get down there and get it to drive it around, but it's looking like I won't be able to for a couple weeks.

Anyone know anything about this stuff and how I can get a temp tags until I can get the title for the actual tags? It's really confusing and my parents have no clue either...

I wouldnt do anything with it unless you get a piece of paper from the bank. In Texas the bank has to certify that the loan is being cleared.

I think you can get it registered with a bill of sale. The finance company may wait to get the title transfer paperwork done before they release the money to the buyer though. I financed a Saleen speedster for my wife with J.J. Best out of P.A.. The car was in California and the title was still in transition from the dealership in Washington that the California dealer got it from. We had to wait for the title to get to J.J. Best beforte they would release the funds.

Yeah I thought I could get temporary tags with bill of sale but my step dad thinks the guy selling it has to be at the DMV, and I can go get the temporary tags in GA as long as the guy brings the bill of sale.

My dad was thinking about putting it on his trailer and hauling it up here to sit in the driveway until we get the title...definitely don't want to be able to look outside at my mach one knowing I can't take her anywhere.
